Well, shar is /usr/bin/shar on every machine that I checked, except Classes (also known as Yeenoghu).
odonnell@montrealer:~$ which shar
/usr/bin/shar
odonnell@yeenoghu:~$ which shar
no shar in /usr/local/bin /usr/bin /usr/openwin/bin /usr/dt/bin /usr/ccs/bin /usr/ucb /home/odonnell/bin.any /home/odonnell/myroot/usr/bin
I've asked techstaff to fix this. In the meantime, you can use the Linux machines with the railway names (Montrealer, etc.) remotely, and also in the Ryerson Annex lab.
In the future, people with problems should try to post very specific descriptions. It's a good idea to cut & paste the precise interactions that led to the problem. Put them in between

...

brackets to make them appear unambiguously. Use the ``Page Source'' menu item under the ``View'' button on Netscape to see how I did this in the first paragraph of this message (there's a similar trick in Internet Explorer, but I don't know it).
